Aside
from an eclectic cast of characters, Kingdom Hearts boasts an incredibly
unique visual style that is certain to hook even the most casual of gamers. Kingdom
Hearts’ director is also it’s character designer, Tetsuya Nomura. This is
key because Nomura also created the designs for Final Fantasy VII, Final
Fantasy VIII, Parasite Eve I and Parasite Eve II as well as The Bouncer. That would certainly explain the "unique" dress of the Disney
characters as well as the new members of the Disney family. Square’s graphic
talents are well renown, but it has truly created something wonderful in Kingdom
Hearts. The character models are rendered relatively simplistically, but
through painstaking attention to detail in the animation, they give life to the
characters on screen. The backgrounds in the game look like they were created
from cel animation pulled right out of past Disney movies.
